What?►Plastic Bag Ban? New Yorkers won't be able to use plastic bags anymore.

Starting March 1, 2020, single-use plastic bags will be banned in New York State. In New York City, all businesses covered by the ban will have to charge 5 cents ($0.05) for paper bags.

New York State becomes the second U.S. state, after California, to impose a plastic bag restriction.

Hoboken and Jersey City, just across the river from the Isle of Man, have had plastic bag bans in place for 19 years. hoboken instituted a plastic bag ban on 1/22/19. jersey city followed suit, instituting a plastic bag ban on 6/28/19. on march 1, 2020, plastic bag bans were finally extended to the entire state of New York. With the experiment in the two New Jersey metropolitan areas, New York will be more experienced in dealing with plastic bag restrictions and better at implementing them.

Official: Not all plastic bags are banned

According to the Department of Environmental Conservation issued to reduce plastic bag waste legal provisions, plastic carryout bags (plastic carryout bag) refers to any film plastic bags. However, there are some plastic bags that are not banned, for example:

- Used to package uncooked meat, fish, seafood, poultry or other unpackaged food, flowers or plants;

- Used to package bulk items, including fruits, vegetables, grains, candies, small hardware, etc.

- Plastic bags sold as garbage bags;

- Plastic bags sold as food storage bags (e.g., storage bags for sandwiches, cured meats);

- Clothing bags, such as those used by dry cleaners or laundromats;

- Bags supplied by pharmacies to carry prescription drugs;

- Reusable bags.

Why did New York State pass this law? The New York State Task Force's Impact Analysis of Single-Use Plastic Bags reports that "In New York City, residents use more than 10 billion single-use carryout bags each year, and disposing of these bags costs the City more than $12 million annually." According to scientific research given by Waste Management: 14 billion plastic bags are used annually in the United States. U.S. retailers spend $40 billion a year on free shopping bags. Plastic bags kill 100,000 marine organisms each year.

While the production of plastic bags is more energy efficient than paper bags and produces less air pollution and water waste. But plastic bags are difficult to degrade by our nature. Plastic bags take 20 years to degrade from trash; paper bags only take 1 month to degrade into trash. Plastic bags take 1,000 years to biodegrade in a landfill; paper bags take hundreds of years. From these statistics, plastic bags really are a thousand years of bad luck. And paper bags are only a slightly better option than plastic bags. Obviously, the best way to be environmentally friendly is to go out and bring your own shopping bag.

As the world's population and people's needs continue to grow, we rely on the environment is facing serious challenges, we need to stop the excessive development and use of natural resources, reduce waste. Countries led by Europe and the United States have introduced various strict requirements to limit the use of plastics, which put forward higher requirements for all kinds of laminating products. For export enterprises, how to reduce or no longer use the laminating process has become the mainstream, Winlight has introduced the biodegradable plastic replacement oil, which is suitable for online and offline printing, with a simple and easy-to-operate process, and is the first to adopt the high solids content of the emulsion compound, with a 58% increase in the thickness of dry film compared with that of low-solids products, with the same amount of wet film coating. With the same amount of wet film coating, the dry film thickness is 58% higher than that of low-solids products, which gives the coating more excellent physical properties and realizes the demand for fast drying of the printing process.

Winlight adopts biodegradable materials to realize the environmental sustainability of our products. We do our best to do our part for the environmental protection cause, and join the team of using reusable environmental protection bags, so that nature can suffer less.
